About The Ship
The Ship at Eyemouth has been the heart of the harbour for hundreds of years. It has been host to generations of fishermen needing a drink after returning from the sea. It is also said that over the years, the quiet corners have been a meeting place for deal makers, smugglers, scoundrels and other visitors alike. It is likely that everyone who lives in Eyemouth, or who has ever lived in Eyemouth, has been into The Ship.
With the changing world of the 21st century, the old Ship Hotel struggled to find its place and found itself barely able to survive. After a relatively short time of closure, a plan was forged to revive her fortunes. Like many of the best plans it was simple. Return the focus to the original 18th century idea. The Ship would be a place of welcome and comfort.
Recent careful refurbishment and restoration has taken place to preserve the heritage and, through careful attention to detail, to create a beautiful restaurant and bar as well as The Ship’s Quarters a comfortable modern guest house with great character and style
The Ship's Quarters
The Ship’s Quarters provides accommodation for up to 14 guests in en-suite rooms with individual charm. The quayside location is fantastic. Many of the rooms have stunning views across the picturesque Eyemouth Harbour. It's the shortest of strolls to explore the harbour and watch the boats come and go. Just a stride along the road past local shops, bars & more restaurants is a sandy beach and swimming pool.
Eyemouth is steeped in history and surrounded by stunningly beautiful countryside. The Eyemouth Golf Club with its unique challenges for golfers is only minutes away. The marine reserve just off the coastline contains some of the very best scuba dive sites in Europe.
There is ample car parking and a Bus Stop to all local routes. Taxi pick-ups are also available. Guest arriving by train can be picked up from Berwick, with prior arrangement
The Ship Restaurant & Bar
The Restaurant & Bar, an independent business located in the same building is open daily for guests who fancy a cappuccino, latte or a variety of teas. Lunches, Afternoon Teas, Sunday Roasts, and evening meals are also available. From the bar, a wonderful list of craft beers and rare tipples will enhance a feeling of a hidden revelry, a restored den of iniquity.
